SKULLS AND BONES AS SYMBOLS OF THE DEATH
The Stella patterns set, the second in Andrey Repin's collection, is dedicated to the birth of Baroque and the Thirty Years' War. The pattern reflects the dance of life and death, the play of image and symbols encapsulated into complex geometry. The main characters, angels of death, personify the outrages of war and, at the same time, the spirit aspiring for light and peace. Bones, skulls and fractured bodies are inscribed into the delicate ornaments to display the specific Baroque view of the horrors of war.

THE SOUL OF RENAISSANCE
The Soul of Renaissance hits fate with a knife and a smile, horizons are hidden by dark scarlet Florentine cloth of hot and thick blood colour. The dagger-soul needs decent setting, the flesh is no longer a jail: nakes goddesses, naked ballet dancers, races of naked athletes on plazas. The flesh loves, kills, roars with laughter in the cities boiling with carnivals and rebellions, it overcomes the plague. Intoxicated by Syracuse wine, having experienced all the joys and misfortunes, the Soul of Renaissance grins: "And do not put your hope in tomorrow".
